Robert Floyd Rose

1942 ~ 2017

Loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Robert Floyd Rose, 74 passed away June 30 after a brief battle with liver cancer.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 25, 1942 to parents Ford Thomas Rose and Beulah (Hinckley) Rose.

Robert was a gentle giant, kind and loving. He enjoyed helping others and had an imaginative sense of humor. He enjoyed bowling and dark chocolate, though not necessarily in that order. He took advantage of service opportunities throughout his life and particularity enjoyed working as a volunteer at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.

Robert was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving as a missionary in Germany from 1961-1964. He held many callings throughout his life, worked in the temple, and enjoyed serving in the church.

He graduated from BYU in 1968 and worked as a Medical Technologist, making many friends throughout his career. He worked many years at Primary Children\s Hospital, the University of Utah, and ARUP Laboratories.

He was a life-long learner and encouraged others to pursue their own education. He also enjoyed sports, especially his beloved BYU, cheering them on throughout the years. He was also a fan of the Green Bay Packers.

Robert also loved scouting, and through the efforts of his brother Lyman, was recognized as an Eagle Scout in his later years. Though his uniform no longer fit, he wore his new rank with pride.

He loved his family, worked hard to care for them, and took pride in their accomplishments. He was proud to have had four children, six grand-children, and one great-grandchild.

Most recently, Robert made many friends at the Country Care Center in Farmington, UT, where he lived until his passing.

Is preceded in death by daughter Elizabeth Rose. Survived by son Paul Ford Rose (Becky), son Daniel Alonzo Rose (Darci), and son Benjamin Robert Rose (Shelly).

Grandchildren Willaim Rose (Ally), Victoria Rose (Cody), Darion Collette, Nephi Rose, Mikayla Rose, Briley Rose. Great grandchildren: Ember Smith.

Also survived by his siblings Priscilla (Richard) Crockett, Ford Thomas Rose II (Kathy), Darlene (Ralph) Rich, Jeanine (Merrill) Dodge, Kathy (Marv) Jensen, Marie (Chris) Atkins, Wallis Ronald Hinckley Rose (Valinda), Kenny Hinckley Rose (Diane), Lyman Hinckley Rose (Lisa)

Funeral services will be heldThursday July 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.at Larkin Mortuary - 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be heldWednesday July 5, from6-8 p.m.at Larkin Mortuary, and alsoThursdayfrom10:00-11:00 a.m.prior to the service.Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
