Glen A Solt

1939 ~ 2018

Glen A. Solt passed away January 18, 2018. He was born in Salt Lake City on June 22, 1939 to Dean M. and Evelyn Brown Solt. He was educated in local schools and lived his entire life in Swedetown. On June 10, 1959 he married his sweetheart Mary Newman. They were the parents of six sons and one daughter.

For many years Glen worked as a concrete contractor in the construction industry. He raised homing pigeons as a hobby. With six boys, Glen loved watching them at their sporting events. He never missed a ball game. He also loved spending time with his boys hunting and fishing. Six weeks after his open heart surgery, he was at San Juan hunting elk. Glen had a special place in his heart for his daughter Susan, he loved spending time with her. Glen was happiest when he was spending time with his family and serving others.

Glen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as bishop of Swedetown's 23rd ward for nearly six years, until the ward was discontinued in 1969. Glen served in three different wards, seven bishoprics, and also served in the stake presidency. Glen loved the Lord and enjoyed serving no matter what his call was.

Glen in survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary, children; Dennis and Sandy Solt of Kaysville, Matt and Nichole Solt of Salt Lake, Mark and Chrissy Solt of Twin Falls, Andy and Charlie Solt of Bountiful and Susan and Brett Bloomquist of Redmond Washington, 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sons, Joey and John Solt.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Salt Lake City 19th Ward, 225 W. 500 N. Viewings will be Friday, January 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple and on Saturday at 10 a.m. prior to services at the church.
