Peter Owen May

1957 ~ 2017

Peter Owen May (Pete) passed away peacefully December 13th 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Pete, our family rock, lost his nine month battle with glioblastoma. Our love for him is unlimited. He is our strength, example, refuge, confidant, teacher, hero and an amazing father to our incredible daughters.

He will always be loved and missed by all for his passion for life, discipline, the love of guns, engineering and the pursuit for that which is greater than ourselves. Pete worked for ATK for 32 years as a metallurgist and program manager. All that worked with Pete knew he was the master of program management. His very detailed and caring style inspired us all. His super serious personality combined with mischievous sayings and unbelievable stories, kept us all on our toes and laughing. His favorite game was the EAC reviews. His eloquent phrases took the pressure off the increased challenges of our work programs with humor like, "Selective Amnesia of Leadership" and "Falling on his Short Sword." Other phrases Pete loved to use were "Storm the Beach", "High Speed Low Drag" ,"Boots on the Ground", "Locked and Loaded" and "Whisky, Tango Foxtrot". Pete will be remembered for his passion of learning, teaching and travelling the world. His continued generosity for all and love of life will be truly missed.

Pete is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters Ashley and Alicia, loving mother Margaret May, and brothers, Tim May (Stephanie) and Tom May (Maren). Preceded in death by his father Thomas May and uncle Rex May.

A celebration of life will be held by the family in the summer of 2018 in Heber.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the University of Washington Medical Center or The Huntsman Cancer Institute.
