June Viola Fletcher Spurgiesz

1931 ~ 2013

June was born on Valentine\s Day, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York. She passed away on Aug. 11, 2013 at the end of a beautiful life, remaining cheerful and loving, striving to be of service to her family and friends until the end.

June\s life adventures began when she and Ed met one summer day on her way to Rockaway Beach. Six months later they married and within the year, mom would be \"tracted\" by Mormon missionaries and join the LDS church. June maintained a hectic schedule raising a family and being active in the church along with other volunteer efforts. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in many choirs including the 1964-65 New York World\s Fair Singing Mothers. While living in SLC she was active in the Bridges Volunteer Program, the Utah Prader-Willey organization (serving as state president), the SLC Food Bank and the SLC Temple. Together with Ed, she served an LDS Service Mission assisting indigent immigrants in the Salt Lake Valley.

June is survived by Ed, her husband of ≠≠≠62 years; children, April Colton (Steve), Mark, Bruce (Jill, deceased), Daniel and Robert; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a sister, Janice Heil and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 12 noon at the Federal Heights Ward, 1300 Fairfax Rd (off of Virginia St), SLC. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening Aug. 21, 2013 from 6:00-8:00PM at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, and Thursday morning from 10:30 -11:30AM at the church prior to services.
