Gloria Darlene James Broadwater

1924 ~ 2014

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away quietly and peacefully with her devoted husband and caregiver at her side on July 1, 2014. Mother was born to Daniel Powell and Merle Bradford James on July 24,1924.

Mother and Dad met when she was nine and Dad was 11 years old. He had pigeons that drove her crazy from the noise so he had to figure out a way to win her heart. He had to convince her that he was the good guy with candy, flowers and sweet talk and finally on October 8,1942 they were married. This marriage was still going strong at 71 years so it was either, the candy, flowers or his charm that got to her, but we that knew them best knew it was their unfaltering love and devotion for each other. Their marriage was sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on December 14, 1978.

Mother and Dad traveled the world but one of her favorite places was the condo at Coronado, Calif. Walking and dancing for hours on the beach in the white sand with her sweetheart was heaven to her.

Mother had a passion for music, especially Tony Bennett, the ballet, and adventure. She would often tell us that her and Dad \"danced around the world\" in their travels and they actually did and she had the pictures to prove it.

Mother is survived by the absolute love of her life her husband James William Broadwater; her children: Jan B. (Jerry) Smith of Riverton, UT; and Dr. Paul (Cherie) Broadwater of Sandy, Ut; 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Mother was preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother Boyd James and her beloved son Kevin James Broadwater.

A private family graveside service was held. The family wishes to thank Mother\s nurse Stephanie, Carla, her aide Tanisha, and the staff at One Care Health and Hospice. They were truly extraordinary. Our thanks also to Spring Creek for their loving care of our mother. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Primary\s Children\s Hospital in her name.
