George Clegg

1946 ~ 2018

George Clegg age 71 of Salt Lake City, UT passed away February 5, 2018 due to complications of kidney cancer at home surrounded by family. George was born on November 12, 1946 in Regensburg, Germany to an American GI and his Polish bride. He was the oldest of 7 children. In 1947 George and his parents moved to Washington D.C. area until 1955 when they moved to Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from Bishop Amat High School in 1965. After he graduated he enlisted in the United States Air Force from November 19, 1965 until he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on November 8, 1969.

Shortly after returning home he met the love of his life Kathy S McElmeel and they were married January 16, 1971. They had two daughters, Brandi born in 1981 and Krista born in 1982. He and Kathy enjoyed square dancing together along with many other activities. George and Kathy enjoyed 47 years together. In 1994, he and Kathy and their 2 daughters moved to West Valley City, Utah then later to Layton, Utah. George became a truck driving instructor with Road Master for several years then most recently with Sage Trucking, he enjoyed teaching. George fought long and hard with his battle against cancer; special thank you to the VA Hospital of Salt Lake City, UT and Liberty Dialysis of Ogden, UT.

Survived by his daughters: Brandi (Robert) Clegg, Krista (Jared) Jenkins, grandchildren: Jayden, Dakota, Isabelle, Lillyann and Pyper, brothers, William, Albert E. and John, and his sister Mary.

Preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Janina, brother, Albert C. Jr., sister, Ellen, his wife, Kathy and grandson, Harley.

A viewing will be held at Doornbos Memorial Chapel, 17050 Arnold Drive in Riverside, CA from 1:30 PM ‚ 2:30 PM on February 12, 2018, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 2:30 PM. Interment will be held on February 13, 2018 at Riverside National Cemetery at 9:31AM.
