Christopher Talmage Jones

1941 ~ 2014

Christopher Talmage Jones passed away at home on July 7, 2014, due to complications from a stroke he suffered three years ago. Born in Los Angeles on November 12, 1941, he was the first of seven children of Vera Jean and J. Talmage Jones. He graduated Brigham Young University in 1966. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a full-time missionary in the Central States Mission (1961-63), as a counselor in two bishoprics, as an ordinance worker in the San Diego Temple, and as a CES missionary. He married the love of his life, Louise Anne Rolapp, in the Los Angeles Temple on July 16, 1966. They made their homes in Portland, Los Angeles, Denver, Provo, Scottsdale, San Juan Capistrano, and Newport Beach before recently moving to Salt Lake City.

Christopher is survived by Louise, their four children, Barbara (Matthew Brown), Collins (Kelly), Parker (Stella), Kimball (Jennifer), and fourteen grandchildren. He loved working in the financial services industry, with Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter. His other passions in life included his grandchildren, BYU sports, and Mormon history. He was a member of the Mormon History Association for nearly forty years, receiving MHA's special citation in 2013. He was serving on the Mormon Historic Sites Foundation board at the time of his death. Christopher loved others, as evidenced by the hundreds of people he called his "very dear friends." Please leave condolences for the family at www.larkincares.com.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, July 14, at the Salt Lake City 14th Ward, 142 West 200 North.
