John Quentin Midgley

1928 ~ 2017

Our loving father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, John Q. Midgley passed away on August 5, 2017 at the age of 89 from complications of a stroke. John was born on March 13, 1928 in Salt Lake City to Donald Thomas and Hazel Midgley. He married Lois Mae Johnson on July 9, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He served faithfully in the LDS Church throughout his life, serving in the Western States Mission from 1949 ‚ 1951 and with his loving wife in the England London South Mission in 1991. John served in several bishoprics including as Bishop of the Holladay 13th Ward from 1965 ‚ 1970, and also served many years as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. John attended Brigham Young University and graduated in 1955 with an Accounting Degree. He had a successful career as a CPA, which culminated in a partnership with Wiggins and Company. During the Korean War, John proudly served in the Air Force as a member of the 196th AAC squadron, stationed at Hill Air Force Base. John devoted his entire life to his family which includes 6 children, 23 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 42 years, Lois. He is survived by his brother Keith (Lorraine), children Mike, Gary (Lori), Debbie, Leigh (Brian O'Leary), Denise (Doug Keyes), and Roger (Patty). Funeral services will be held Friday, August 11th , at 11:00 am at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 So.). Friends and family may call prior to the services from 9:30 am until 10:45 am or Thursday evening, August 10th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the same location.
