Gene Sanders Call

1920 ~ 2017

Gene Woodward Sanders Call, 96, passed away peacefully at Millard Care and Rehabilitation in Delta, Utah. She was born August 1, 1920 in Murray, Utah to Clement James and Georgia Woodward Sanders. She married William Garland Call December 10, 1943 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 13, 1944.

Gene grew up in Murray, Utah and graduated from Granite High School in 1937. She met the love of her life while performing in the operetta, Maytime. She was 15 and Bill was 17. Soon after, Bill went to Hollywood to further his career and they lost touch with one another. Six years later, while Bill was in the Air Force, they started writing letters to one another. Bill proposed 3 months later on December 1st, and they were married on the 10th of December. They raised 3 boys and worked together in their upholstery business, Mastercraft.

Gene was a very talented lady. In order to get some girl time, she took a ceramics class which she called her "sanity class\". She made many figurines and dolls which she shared with her family. She even dressed some of them in homemade clothes. She was a wonderful cook, and spoiled her family every chance she got.

Gene is preceded in death by her sweetheart Bill, her parents, her siblings: Virginia (Ken) Pendelton, C. Reed (Ila) Sanders, and Lee (Colleen) Sanders, her son, Steven Garland Call, and her granddaughter, Mylessa Call.

She is survived by her sons, Gailen (Janet) Call and Michael (Tammy) Call, 9 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:30am at Cottonwood Heights 1st Ward, 7075 South 2245 East in Cottonwood Heights. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6-8pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd (10600 S) in Sandy and on Saturday from 10-10:45am prior to the service. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
