Norma Abegg Sullivan

Norma Abegg Sullivan, 87, of Salt Lake City, Utah died Saturday August 17, 2013 at her home following a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Norma was born in Tucson, Arizona on July 1, 1926 to Elijah and Isaura Bentley Abegg. She attended BYU for two years before marrying William D. Sullivan of Park City on November 22, 1949, in Provo, Utah. Norma and Bill raised two boys, Vincent and Sean in Salt Lake after living in San Francisco for several years. In addition, she extended her caring influence to nearly a dozen foster children over the years.

As an active member of the LDS Church she faithfully served as the organist in the Yale ward, and produced a special Christmas Eve musical program that delighted audiences for over 20 years. She loved her desert roots and often returned to Tucson and Saint George for extended periods, serving as a hospital volunteer and teaching English as a second language. She was a beautiful woman and enjoyed success as a fashion model with experience in San Francisco, New York, and other major cities. She continued to work the clothing market in Salt Lake for many years, and was featured in many print ads for clothiers.

She is survived by her husband Bill, younger sister Gwen Cowley, two sons Vince (Kris) and Sean (SueDette), four grandchildren Casey (Suzy), Cory, Nicholas (Jessica), and Adrianna Sullivan, and two great grandchildren. Norma is preceded in death by her parents, her five brothers Dean Meredith, Joseph Bentley, Maurice Lothaire, Hal Von, and Myrlon Bentley Abegg.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 24th at 1:00 p.m., at the Yale Ward Chapel, 1431 East Gilmer Drive, Salt Lake City, where friends may call prior to the services at 11:00.
