Frances Lorraine Kramer Curfew

1925 ~ 2018

Frances Lorraine Kramer Curfew, age 93, of Sandy, Utah, joined her loving husband to continue their eternal journey together, on December 2, 2018.

Born February 13, 1925, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Adolph Peter Kramer and Alice Mae McLaren. She was the oldest of five children. Married and later divorced Marvin Hubert Goetz. Fran gave birth to six children, all of whom she loved deeply, which made the decision to place them for adoption heartbreaking. Fortunately, years later, she was able to reconnect with them and enjoyed a close relationship with them and their families. She married the love of her life, Jay Evert Curfew, on May 27, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Frances (lovingly referred to as Fran and Granny Franny) faced adversity in her life from an early age, yet throughout the trials she maintained a forgiving heart and cultivated a sense of empathy for the circumstances of others. The majority of her adolescence was spent traveling between Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin, where she attended Catholic School. She was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her life experiences, along with the gospel of Christ, molded her into the strong-willed, optimistic, woman of faith that attracted her eternal companion.

Fran traveled the world with Jay and found joy serving in numerous callings everywhere they lived. Some of her callings included: seminary teacher, missionary with Jay in Libya, temple worker at the Jordan River Temple, and she did extraction work from home for years. Her passion for genealogy resulted in several family lines being connected and sealed. Together they lived in or visited numerous countries including but not limited to: Libya, Iran, Egypt, England, Denmark, Brunei, Brazil, Singapore, Italy, etc. It was a team effort when she kept the books for Jay's drilling company and his trucking adventures.

Fran was a delight to everyone she met and associated with throughout the world. Fran's later years were spent living in the Salt Lake Valley. Prior to her declining health, she and Jay lived at Olympus Ranch in Murray where she enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and helping those in need.

The families of both Jay and Fran wish to thank the staff members of Olympus Ranch and Sego Lily Assisted Living for their loving kindness and care. Also, a huge thank you to Alpha Home Health and Hospice. A special thanks to Dawn Austin, RN, for the amazing care and dignity during the passing of Jay and Fran. A heartfelt thank you to Marylynn Curfew Huggins for her continued support of Fran and Jay in their final years.

Fran is survived by her children: Carolyn Pillar, Sun Prairie, WI; Jean (Stephen) Wright, Casper, WY; Gary (Annette) Romer, Layton, UT; Ron (Chris) Romer, Syracuse, UT; Larry (Christie) Romer, Brigham City, UT.

35 Grandchildren; 72 Great Grandchildren; 12 Great-great Grandchildren.
