William Howard Swasey

1938 ~ 2014

William H Swasey passed away peacefully in his home on December 11, 2014 in the presence of loving family members and friends. Bill was born in Salt Lake City September 26, 1938 to Helen Olsen and William Grant Swasey. He was a quiet man who showed his love and affection through giving his children the type of life he never had. He was a hard worker who emphasized to his children the importance of hard work and keeping your word.

Bill loved the outdoors, especially fishing, and he loved to read about the outdoors. He was well respected by everyone who knew him, took pride in completing things himself and doing them right the first time.

Bill joined the US Navy in 1959 and achieved successive promotions up to Yeoman 2nd Class Petty Officer (E-1 to E-5) in four years; something that takes at least eight years today. In his last year of active service he married his long time sweetheart Janice Brady in Las Vegas on June 5, 1962 and they celebrated 52 luscious years together. Bill enjoyed cars in his younger years and had a career working for Lake City International where he supported his family as a diesel mechanic for 38 years.

He endured multiple illnesses and painful recuperation that eventually took a toll on him and limited his activity but he never let people know how much pain he was in to save loved ones the worry and heartache.

Bill is survived by his wife Janice Brady Swasey, his children Donald Grant Swasey, William David Swasey, Pamela Lynn French and David Howard Swasey and 9 grandchildren. He is also reunited with Jeffery Loren Swasey and Susan Jean Swasey, two children who passed on before him; as well as his parents and brother Leroy Swasey and sister Alice Jean Swasey.

Heart-felt thanks to all family and friends and care givers who assisted in caring for Bill and treating him with tenderness and dignity in the last few weeks of his life.
