Iretta McDaniel Faris

1927 ~ 2014

The world has lost a wonderful women. Iretta McDaniel Faris, 86, passed away surrounded by her family on January 17, 2014. She was born on August 9, 1927 to Charles and Daisy Owen. She had 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She married Charles William McDaniel on December 7, 1946 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had 8 children, Ed (Shirley) McDaniel, Sherry (Arland) Bell, Vicky McDaniel, Joyce (Robert) Haughey, Steven McDaniel, Cathy (Wayde) Wilcock, David McDaniel and Annette (Ray) Giles.

She served in many church capacities. After the passing of her husband Charles, she served a full time LDS mission in the Little Rock, Arkansas Mission. After returning home from her mission, she was fortunate enough to find love once more. She married Joseph Faris on October 21, 2000 and have had many good years together. They both love to travel, explore and garden together. They had a huge garden and would take their extra vegetables to the Benson Grist Mill Farmers Market every Saturday. They have many good memories together. We as her children appreciate all that Joe did for her after her stroke. The love and the care that he gave to her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She was a great example to all of us. She taught us to work hard, to love working in the yard and garden. She had a great sense of humor. One of our favorites towards the end was "Grandma how do you feel?" she would reply, "Mostly with my fingers" She taught us to love our Heavenly Father and Jesus. She taught us to be independent, to love to travel and explore new places. She was loved by many and will be missed but will always be in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Charles McDaniel, her daughter Vicky, her parents Charles and Daisy Owen, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. There was a great reunion as she returned home to them. We love you very much.
