LaRue South

1939 ~ 2015

Home at last! We called her the "queen of acceptance," as she endured year after year of pain and illness. Whatever came, she accepted it as her lot, knowing that better things would come.

Born April 24, 1939, daughter of George Q South and Melba Eastman, she was a spicy, fun-loving child, played the piano, sang beautifully, and wanted nothing more than to lift and bless lives.

She is survived by a sister, JoAnn Ottley (Jerold), two brothers J. Allan South (Linda) and George V. South (Joyce), and a large, loving group of nieces and nephews, whom she adored.

A member of the LDS Church, LaRue served a mission for the Church in Los Angeles, California. Later she returned to California where she worked for many years as an insurance professional and expert in Workmen's Compensation. Illness forced early retirement and her return to Utah to be with family.

A memorial service will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) at 2:00 PM, Monday July 6, 2015. Family and friends may visit before the service from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM.

Special heartfelt gratitude is extended to the loving caregivers at Canyon Rim Care Center where LaRue has lived for more than five years. Thanks also to the gracious staff of Bristol Hospice Care who shepherded LaRue through the final, difficult days of her life.
