Jeanine Eleanor Bailey Hedin

1931 ~ 2017

On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, one of Heavenly Father's elect daughters, Jeanine Hedin, passed away due to circumstances incident to age. Having lived a valiant life as wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. As a family we find great comfort in our certainty that Mom and Dad are together, joyful in each other's company again. Mom lived a life of kindness, sacrifice, and service.

Mom was born August 4, 1931, to Charles Sidney Bailey and Eleanor Taylor in Eureka, Utah. The family moved when she was 12 to Salt Lake City where she later graduated from South High School. Mom was intelligent, organized, and well read. She married Kenneth Weyland Hedin in the Salt Lake Temple on June 9, 1951. Together they raised four children. She was a devoted wife and a loving, patient mother. Mom was the perfect complement to Dad throughout their 59 year marriage.

Mom was a dedicated employee, working first as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell and later as secretary for Roosevelt Elementary School and for the Granite School District offices.

Mom loved the Savior with her whole soul. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, converting when she was 16 years old. Mom found great joy in serving others. Throughout her life she held many callings in the Salt Lake Grant Stake, including Primary and Young Women presidencies. She especially loved the Relief Society organization, serving as ward and stake Presidents. Mom humbly served in the temple for many years. She passed on to us the values most important in her life.

We cherished our time with her and Dad boating at Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell, relaxing at their cabin at Bear Lake, and enjoying visits to Bandon, Oregon. Mom loved spending time with her grandchildren and made every family event memorable with her quick wit and healthy sense of humor.

Preceded in death by her parents, her brother Raymond, and her husband Ken. She is survived by her children Kenneth B., Kerry C. (Michele), Elisa Sines, and Kevin B. (Debra); 14 grandchildren, Cory (Britney), Eric (Heather), Terra Shepard (Dave), Ammon (Lauren), Austin, Taylie, Brendan Sines, Emelia Erickson (Brent ), Noble Sines (Cassidy), Logan (Miriam), Adam (Jentry), Megan, Noah (currently serving an LDS mission in Argentina Posadas), and Jonas; 16 great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Xander, Alexis, and Jackson Hedin, Aiden, Parker, and Katelyn Hedin, Kenny, Tauni, Lauren, and Hannah Shepard, Logan, Clara, and Alyse Hedin, Calvin Erickson, and Charlie Hedin.

We thank Legacy House of Taylorsville for their excellent care of and friendship with Mom.
