Myrtle "Virginia" McKinney 92, passed away July 29, 2013 in Glendale, Arizona. She was born September 17, 1920 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Leroy Fredrick Caughie and Edna Edith Richardson. She spent most of her early years in Calistoga, CA. Virginia met and married Robert Lloyd McKinney and together they had three children children: son, Robert Allan (Elizabeth), daughter, Evelyn Thorup (Richard) and son, Jerry.
Virginia and Bob settle in Santa Rosa, California where for many years they raised their family. They were active in the Moose Lodge, Monroe Club, Grange etc. After the passing of her sweetheart, Virginia moved to Arizona where she settled first in Prescott and later moved to Glendale. Virginia will be greatly missed. She loved to socialize and spend time creating memories with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Leroy and Edna, step-father, George Earl Shurtliff, siblings: Loa May, Bernice, George; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by her 3 children; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 31 2nd great-grandchildren along with her siblings: Thelma Burnside, Ruth Richardson and John Shurtliff.
Graveside services for Virginia will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North "N" Street, Salt Lake City, UT, where she will be buried next to her late husband. A visitation will be held for family and friends on Wednesday morning at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT.
Virginia had a very short stay at the Hospice of the Valley in Arizona, which provided loving care before her passing.
