Lenore Sundberg Hoopes

1932 ~ 2015

I passed away from Cancer on July 12, 2015. I was born at home during a wild thunderstorm on the evening of June 4, 1932, the daughter of Ivan Verdell and Edna Baker Sundberg. Schools attended were Columbus, Irving, South High and the University of Utah.

I met Ed Hoopes at the \"U\", and we were married in December, 1950. The US Navy decided they needed Ed again during the Korean War, which resulted in our spending a very interesting couple of years in the Philippine Islands, and the Panama Canal Zone. I was 23 when we brought our first home on Crestwood Drive in August of 1955 and lived there for 60 years until my death. Always loving being one of \"The Folks Who Live on the Hill\".

I was blessed with three fantastic children, -Stacey, Kim and Todd. While raising my family and helping out with Todd\s sports and band, and Stacey and Kim\s activities in Jobs Daughters, Bethel #7, I worked with my husband in our businesses of Bureau of Personnel, Western Temporaries, and Communication Center. Life was always busy, often stressful, but never boring. Ed preceded me in death in 1998.

Survivors are my children Stacey Allen (Ray), Kimberley Denham (Brad), and Todd Hoopes (Joy), along with my six grandchildren, Cristin, Logan, Jessica, Kyle, Nicole and Anthony. Also surviving is my sister Beth Hanson, and brothers Wayne Sundberg and Scott Sundberg.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. After the celebration, there will be a light brunch served and even more sharing of memories and laughter. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
