Geraldine Hazel Jeffs Shipp

1930 ~ 2020

Our mother, Geraldine Hazel Jeffs Shipp, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family January 27, 2020. Geri was born 12 December 1930 to Melvin Ephraim Jeffs and Hazel Galpin in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended East High School and LDS Business College. On August 25, 1950 she married Woodley Bingham Shipp in the Salt Lake Temple. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary shortly before Woodley's passing in September 2019 and now her passing. Together they raised five sons and one daughter—Steven W., David A. (deceased), Brian C. (deceased), Mark R., Cory M., and Laurie Anne. Wood and Geri are grandparents to 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Geri was preceded in death by her brother, Donald M. Jeffs, and is survived by siblings Richard L. Jeffs, Darlene O. Harding, Alan E. Jeffs, and Susan L. Jeffs.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Geri served in many callings to include Primary chorister and teacher, Young Women's leader, Sunday School teacher, Relief Society counselor and president, and was stake Relief Society president for 12 years. Together with Woodley they served missions to Dallas, Texas and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

She was deeply loved by her family and friends in both Utah and Oregon.

A memorial service was held Saturday, February 1st, at the Oak Hills Ward chapel, in Beaverton, Oregon. A memorial service will also be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8th, at the Cottonwood 4th Ward chapel, 5565 South Neighbor Lane, Holladay, Utah. Family and friends are invited to visit from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. prior to the February 8th memorial service. A graveside dedication and interment for family will be at the Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3114 E. Bengal Blvd., Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
