Val Dee H. Cranney

1932 ~ 2014

Val passed away peacefully on August 26, 2014 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on January 5, 1932 in Star Valley, Wyoming to Hiram and Louise Cranney. He was the oldest of six children and graduated from Star Valley High School. He married his sweetheart, Gloy Allred, on May 10, 1951 in the Logan, Utah Temple. They immediately moved to Salt Lake City, Utah then later to Draper, where they raised their 5 children. During this time dad worked for Wonder Bread Hostess Cake for over 40 years, where he held many positions throughout his career. He loved raising a garden, taking frequent trips to Star Valley where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, dutch oven cooking and most of all spending time with his family. His greatest joy was his posterity.

He is survived by his five children; Kristine Barkdull (Carl), Scott Cranney, Dan Cranney (Lana), Lori Dee Crane (Kevin), Aaron Cranney (JoDel). Brothers and sisters; Lynn Cranney (Linda), Colleen Matthews (Jim), Don Cranney (Pat), Glaya Douglas (Bob), Steve Cranney (Kay); 23 Grandchildren; 49 Great Grandchildren; and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; Hiram M. and Louise Ruby Cranney. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM!

Funeral services will be held Sat., Aug. 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Draper 17th Ward, 1617 E. 12700 So. A viewing will be held Fri. 6-8 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 So.) and Sat. at the Ward 8:30-9:45 a.m. Graveside service will be held Sat. at 4 p.m. in the Afton, Wyoming Cemetery. Online condolences: www.larkincares.com
