Darleen North Schrenk

1928 ~ 2014

Darleen North Schrenk left this mortal world peacefully at her Draper home on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014. She was born July 21, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Owen Levi and Nora Wright North. She married her sweetheart, Boyd Eli Schrenk in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 5, 1950.

Darleen and Boyd were blessed with four children; Martin Boyd Schrenk, Marilee Royle (David), Deiadra Schrenk, and Carolynn Drake (Bret). She also had six grandchildren; Stephen Royle (Lana), Kelly Teemant (Michael), Kari Cramer (Chris), Kristy Royle, Natalie Drake, Bryce Drake, and four great-grandchildren; Paxton, Treydon, Owen, and Myles.

Darleen's life was filled with love.

She loved to learn new things. She studied art at the University of Utah. She enjoyed seeking for knowledge from the "best books" throughout her life. Educational shows and courses filled many hours especially towards the end of her life. She was always learning and doing. By necessity she was a night owl and was most creative in the early hours of morning.

She loved to be creative. Her expressive side knew no bounds. From the walls of her homes to the gardens surrounding them, she could usually see a way to make things better. She wrote lyrics and music for countless songs, often using her artistic skills to illustrate and paint scenes to some of her songs.

She loved her family and The Lord. Her life was one of service. She held many callings in the Church, but especially loved serving at Lenore's Care Center in Draper. She cared for her elderly mother and disabled husband prior to their deaths, and was a wonderful example to her children of serving those around her. Her love of The Savior was evident in her songs, her actions, and throughout her life.
