Ted Cherrington Murdock

1934 ~ 2018

Ted was born to William Blaine and Captola Cherrington Murdock in Chicago Illinois. He passed away at home from complications of diabetes. Ted married Joan Griffin on June 30th 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple.

He had 3 great loves - his family, the gospel and the Boy Scouts of America. Those that knew him knew which one came first. He was able to provide his family with the most wonderful childhood imaginable with stories, camping, history, trivia and an unconditional love for all. The children in his life loved being read to by him and his big, booming voice singing an unending array of Boy Scout songs will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Robin (Steven), sons Shaun (Cheryl), Cory (Lisa), and Jason (Melissa), 22 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren, sister Virginia (Hank ), brother Kent (Carolyn) and many nieces and nephews. Ted is preceded in death by his father, mother, 2 brothers and son Todd.

The family would like to thank Hearts for Hospice for their compassionate care of Ted and his family during the last week of his life as well as Dr. Russell Maxwell for years of kind and expert care.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Wed., April 4, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Highland Park Ward, 2535 S. 1300 E., (frontage road) Salt Lake City. Visitations will be held Tues., April 3, from 7-9:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City and from 9:30-10:30 prior at the ward on Wed.
