Diane D. Phelps passed away December 12, 2016 in Oakland, California, due to causes incident to age. She was born April 10, 1933 to David M. Davis and Cora Adamson Davis in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her childhood was spent in the Salt Lake City Avenues. She attended BYU briefly until she married LeGrande J. Phelps in 1953. As a Navy wife with 4 children in tow, she traveled to parts of the world she never dreamed of living in. Her post Navy life led to Oakland, California in 1971 where she lived until her death. Having always dreamed of finishing her college degree, she returned to school at age 50 earning an elementary education degree and worked as a first grade teacher for 20 years. She loved her callings in the LDS Church serving in every role. Never having achieved a bucket list wish of working in the theatre, she loved to watch / listen to a good Broadway musical production. Her travels to Scotland to visit her ancestor's homeland, however, did fulfill another bucket list wish. She loved to laugh and was always ready with a hug.

She is survived by her daughters, Anita, Connie, Julie (Paul) Johnson, son Robert, grandchildren Jamie (Johnson) Miller, Eric Johnson, Connor Phelps, Heather Phelps, 3 great-grandchildren, and sister Annette (Gerald) Stoddard.
