Wayne loved to learn, read and study many things. He received a Master's Degree from BYU in Fine Arts and Education with a minor in Biology. He taught Art at Hillcrest High School for over 30 years. He counseled many students who were struggling or had troubles in their lives. He tutored several students who became Sterling Scholars during his tenure.

Wayne was an accomplished artist and won many regional awards for his paintings. He was a man of many talents, including restoring furniture, photography, wood carvings, sketching, rock painting, and his personal favorite, landscape canvas painting.

Wayne enjoyed God's beautiful creations. He relished being outdoors. He loved hunting, camping, fishing, and exploring, especially with his family.
