Gary Jay Mencl, 39, returned to his loving Heavenly Father on September 6, 2018, in Portland, Oregon with his beloved wife and parents by his side. Gary was born on March 8, 1979, to John and Carol (Radmall) Mencl in Pocatello, Idaho. He moved with his family to Reno, Nevada, Roseburg and Salem, Oregon graduating from South Salem High School in 1997. Gary served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the San Pablo Philippines Mission. He graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor\s of Science in Biology and undergrad in Chemistry. He was accepted to Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was here that he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Angela Michele Jenkins. They were married and sealed for eternity on July 23, 2009, in the Mt. Timpanogas Temple.
Gary and Angela lived in Philadelphia while he finished Dental school. He started his career in Klamath Falls, Oregon where he practiced for five years. Last year Gary and Angela moved to North Bend, Oregon to work for Southcoast Family Dentistry.
Gary was a devoted father to his three sons Landon, Taylor and Alex and his daughter Jaylee.
Enjoying nature, Gary took every opportunity to go fishing, hunting, kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, camping and spending time with his family doing many of these activities. He looked forward to one day being able to take his sons fishing. He was very artistic and capable in many areas. If he didn\t know how to do something he figured out how to do it and did it to perfection. Gary was a tease and always took the time to have fun and joke around with his loved ones. He served in various capacities in his church. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those who knew him. We are grateful for the time we were able to spend with him on this earth.
Gary is survived by his wife Angela, sons Landon (7) Taylor (3) Alex (1) and daughter Jaylee (6), parents John and Carol Mencl, siblings, Ken (Heidi) Mencl, Julie (Mark) Ernst, Angela (James) Stubbs, Craig (Heather) Mencl and Tyler Mencl. He was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Barbara Mencl and Forest and Lea Radmall.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, September 14, 2018, with a visitation held prior to services beginning at 9:30at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, Utah. Interment will follow in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 21st at 6:30 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 3355 Virginia Ave, North Bend, Oregon 97459. All are invited to attend.
