Stoney Burke Winterton

1973 ~ 2016

Stoney Burke Winterton passed away on March 20, 2016. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 22, 1973 to Dick and Nancy Winterton. Stoney is the fifth of their six children.

Stoney was an eagle scout and graduated Skyline High School in 1991. He especially loved playing football and the association he had with his fellow teammates and coaches. He served a two-year Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Seattle Washington. A beautiful young woman caught his eye whom he fell deeply in love with. Their shared love led them to marry in 1996. They have been blessed with four beautiful children whom he loved and supported. Stoney has always been adventurous whether on the golf course or riding a scooter on the highways in France. His network of personal and professional friends reached around the globe. Having your garbage day changed or delivering an old copy machine to an unaware selected neighbor are on the short list of his practical jokes. He had the uncanny ability to sense when someone needed a phone call or a random act of kindness. He was quick to offer a helping hand and first to serve when needed. He loved serving in his church especially mentoring young men. He always embraced a good adventure and had a special knack of making everyone feel like they were his best friend. The evidence of his kind compassionate heart was most recently demonstrated as he took his family to Peru to help build an orphanage. Stoney's influence has been felt at home and abroad by thousands.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer and their four children Hailey, McCall, Tanner and Mia, mother Nancy, siblings Sherry (Gary) Poulsen, Ron (Melanie), Kathy, Swayne (Kristen), Shalyce and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law.
