Whitney Hill

1978 ~ 2018

Whitney Cottrell Hill passed away on August 13, 2018 from complications related to ALS.She was born on July 21, 1976 in Ogden, Utah, to Lynn and Susan Cottrell.

Whitney graduated from Woods Cross High School in Bountiful and went on to graduate from the University of Utah, majoring in Human Development.She is a proud member and former chapter President of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.Throughout her schooling she was fortunate to make many dear and lifelong friends.

She met her future husband, David, in the fall of 1998, and they fell deeply in love with each other.David soon suspected that Whitney may have dated half of the people in Salt Lake and was related to the other half.Marriage in the L.D.S. Salt Lake Temple followedseven months laterand the Hill family began.She is the love of his life.

Whitney gave birth to four beautiful children who love and admire her deeply.She loved to watch her children grow and learn and succeed and live.She attended countless dance performances and school plays, sat in the snow and rain watching hundreds of soccer games, cheered them on at volleyball and basketball, and helped with homework and projects. She volunteered in their classrooms and loved watching them participate in their class activities.She was unrivaled in making their Halloween costumes.They each inherited her spunk, her whit, and her grace.They have her beautiful smile and her great love for people in their hearts.They are her greatest happiness.They are her greatest legacy.

Whitney loved to serve at church, working frequently with the children in Primary, and serving in multiples callings with the Young Women organization of her ward. She loved each encounter with these young women, teaching them in their classes, sharing her testimony and faith in Christ, and hearing of their challenges and successes.She never held back when talking with these young ladies, never sugar-coating things, but instead telling it like it is.

She is preceded in death by her father, Lynn, and her brother Joseph.She is survived by her spouse, David, her four children, Eli, Caroline, Joey, and Jack, her mother Susan, her brothers Chuck (Kelly) and Sam, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to thank the many friends, neighbors, church members, school teachers and administrators, medical staff and others who have given of their time and talents to help Whitney and her children during these challenging years. Your countless acts of service, time given, uplifting visits and meals, and constant thoughts and prayers have blessed our family forever. You have become part of our lives.Your acts of love and support will not be forgotten.

A viewing will take place onFriday, August 17, 2018, from6:00-8:00 P.M.at the East Millcreek Stake Center, 3103 E Craig Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84109. There will also be a viewing at the same location Saturday, August 18, from10:30-11:30 A.M., followed by the funeral service at12:00 P.M.Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
