Helen Pickett

1921 ~ 2016

Helen VanDuinen Pickett passed away February 22, 2016 in Holladay, Utah. She was born September 18, 1921 in Hoboken, New Jersey to Klaas C. VanDuinen and Margarethe Londema. Helen married Donald Harlow Pickett October 18, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Mom was a consummate homemaker. Her cooking skills were greatly appreciated by always hungry children and grandchildren. She didn't just feed her family; she fed any and all friends of her children…day or night. Her decorating skills and good taste were reflected in her homes' style. She was a classy lady. She was a Church Office Building hostess for 20 years, and worked in almost every organization within the LDS church. She and dad served an inner city mission in Salt Lake City where she was in the Primary presidency and Relief Society presidency at the same time.

Mom is survived by her husband; daughters, DeAnna (Lynn) DeBry, Jan (Doug) Adams, Teri (Bryan) Howick, and son Todd (Ruth) Pickett; 16 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Helen is also survived by her sister, Midge (Byron) Gibbs. Preceded in death by her parents.

The family wishes to thank Valeo Hospice Care, Cara Mickelsen and Kylie Gore for the care they gave to our mom and wife.
