Daniel Nugent Doyle

1943 ~ 2017

Daniel Nugent Doyle Jr. age 74, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his eternal companion, Delsa, whom he affectionately called "Dear", and his children and grandchildren. He suffered from Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia for the past few years. He was born May 16, 1943 to Daniel Nugent Doyle, Sr. and Anne Josephine Benson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dan spent his childhood years in Draper, Utah.

Dan graduated from Jordan High School in 1961. He joined the U.S. Navy following graduation serving from 1961 to 1970 in Anti-Submarine Warfare. After serving his country, he worked for the next thirty years in the elevator industry. Upon retirement from the elevator union, he was employed for the next ten years by the State of Utah as an elevator inspector.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Dan served faithfully in his various church callings which included, home teacher, gospel doctrine teacher, stake missionary, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader, and temple ordinance worker. He had an abiding faith in and a testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. He was a master scholar of the scriptures and doctrines of the gospel.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, reading and family history; but, most importantly, however, was time spent with family.

Dan married his teenage sweetheart, Delsa Clarke, on June 6, 1964. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on August 1, 1974. Together they had seven children.

Survived by his loving wife, Delsa, who exhibited true charity in caring for her husband through his illness; his three daughters Lisa, Keri (Eric), Sonya, and four sons Jason (Michelle), Jeremy (Haley), Ryan (Cammie), and Travis (Shanna), twenty-two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, four brothers Tony (Mary), Mark (Carolyn), Larry (Melody), and Jim (Terry).

Preceded in death by his parents, baby brother Dennis, his twin sister Deanna, and sister Sheila.

The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Jason and Justin for their Christ-like service as faithful home teachers. Additionally, we would like to thank the First Choice Home Health and Hospice team, especially Heather and Collette.

Friends and family may callFriday, June 2, 2017 from 6-8 pmat the Larkin Mortuary 3688 W. 12600 S. Riverton, Utah. Services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 12 Noon at the LDS Saratoga Springs Crossroads Stake Center located at 368 W. Aspen Hills Blvd, Saratoga Springs, Utah with a viewing from10:30-11:30 am. Interment with military honors at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 13001 S. 3600 W. Riverton, UT.
