Our loving mother, Madeleine \"Maddy\" (Russo) Ozolins, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2014. Born April 10, 1936 in Great Neck, N.Y. to John and Lillian (Mueller) Russo and later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1992 so she could be near the mountains she loved so much.
She is survived by her children, Diana Young, Laura McGannon, Christopher (Diana) Schwab, Scott (Barbara) Schwab; grandchildren, Kimberly, William (Kristina), Chris Jr., Trevor, Maggie, Tyler, Kelly Ann; her first great grandchild, Jade, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially her lifelong friend, Tosi Scopa. She also leaves behind, her adored cat and companion, "Sweet Pea". She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brianna, sister, Valerie Going and her parents.
Madeleine worked most of her life as a waitress on Long Island, N.Y, where all the people she met were drawn to her incredible passion for life. Mom told everyone she came in contact with stories of her travels with such enthusiasm…she knew more about the National Parks and surrounding areas than you could find in any book! Always a camera in her hand to capture every moment she could to relive those memories over and over again. Mom loved to travel and took her children, grandchildren and many girlfriends on numerous trips to relive and share the adventures she had as a young woman with her own family.
Join us for a Celebration of her Life, an open house (Italian luncheon) on Saturday, December 13,2014 from 12:30pm ‚ 3:30pm at Diana/Madeleine's home. Mom would love for us to celebrate her this way.
Per Mom's request and wish, her ashes will be scattered at the Grand Canyon next spring. Arrangements are being made by Larkin Mortuary. On-line condolences can be shared at www.larkinmortuary.com
