Marjorie Elizabeth Bowen Arnold

1917 ~ 2017

Marjorie Elizabeth "Bette" Bowen Arnold, of Sandy, Utah, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away on June 15, 2017 of natural causes.

Pastor David Janssen of Grace Community Bible Church will be officiating a private family service at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.

Bette was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 31, 1917. She attended college at the University of Illinois and the University of Chicago, and was a proud member of the Phi Beta Phi sorority. Bette was married to Hugh Grady Arnold, Jr. of Glendale, California on December 26, 1940. After World War II, Bette and Hugh settled in California, living in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1967, they moved to Pacific Palisades, CA., retiring to Thousand Oaks, CA. in 1985. Four years following the death of her husband, Hugh, in 1997, Bette moved to Sandy, Utah, to be near her daughter, Kathy.

Throughout Bette's life, she worked as a homemaker, a valued volunteer at the Children's Home Society of California and at the UCLA Medical Center and a member of several bridge groups. Bette entertained beautifullyand was a wonderfulcook.

Bette is survived by her daughters, Patricia Towell of Dallas, TX; Kathryn Higgs of Sandy, UT, and Cynthia Pflueger of Wenatchee, WA; grandchildren Eric Towell, Christopher Higgs, Andrew Higgs, Kyle Pflueger, and Claire Pflueger. Bette has seven great grandchildren.

Her husband of 58 years, Hugh, parents Allan and Dagmar Bowen and sister, Marian Ferguson, precedes Bette in death.
