Kimberly Ann Montoya

1996 ~ 2017

Our beautiful angel, Kimberly Ann Montoya passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2017. She was 21 years old. Kimmy was born on February 1, 1996 in Logan, Utah, to Candie Checketts and John T. Montoya, and was joyfully welcomed as the third child and first girl in her family. She grew up and spent most of her life in Herriman, Utah. Kimmy was engaged to be married this upcoming July 8th to Christopher Wadleigh, whom she adored and had many adventures and loving memories with.

Kimberly came into the world like a ray of sunshine. She was such a joyful baby and little girl. People were drawn to her ‚ she had many friends. She worked hard and believed she could do anything. Everything Kimmy touched lit up ‚ she excelled in anything she tried. She began dancing when she was three years old, danced with Chris Martin Dance Company for many years, and was later on the Herriman High School Drill Team. After taking every AP class available, she graduated from Herriman High with honors and a straight 4.0 average. She was offered many scholarships across the country, but chose to attend Dixie University where she obtained an associate's degree in finance. Kimmy held many jobs and again excelled at all of them. Most recently, she was working as a loan officer at Mountain America Credit Union in Hurricane, Utah. Her dream was to own her own dog kennel, where she could train and care for dogs all day. She was working toward that dream.

While at Dixie, Kimberly met the love of her life, Christopher Wadleigh. They became engaged last September and were planning a wedding for July 8, 2017. Kimmy and Chris shared a love of dogs, motorcycles, adventure, the peace of nature, music, sunshine, yummy food, and loved to do things for each other.

Kimberly loved her family and found ways to serve and do things for them throughout her life. She loved her friends. She loved her dogs. Words cannot describe how much we miss her. We know that she is with her Father in Heaven and her Savior, and that she is filled with peace and joy. We find comfort in knowing that she will always be with us, that we will see her again, hug her again, talk with her again, and laugh with her again. Kimmy's smile could light up all of heaven.

Kimmy is survived by her loving fiancé Christopher Wadleigh, her mother Candie Checketts (Ramsey) and stepfather Scott Ramsey, her brothers Chad Montoya, Alex Montoya and Ryan Montoya, her grandparents Sid and Rosemarie Checketts, her father John Montoya, her beloved dogs Trevor, Carl and Rascal, her little parrot Po, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family whom she loved.

Kimmy is preceded in death by her great grandparents, who welcomed her home joyfully, and by our family dogs, Misty and Thunder, who ran with wagging tails to greet her. We love you, Boo. You are our beautiful angel princess, and you always will be.
