LeRoy Johnson

1932 ~ 2016

LeRoy Johnson died Jan. 23, 2016 as a result of complications from ALS. He was born April 11, 1932 in Salt Lake City to Alpha G. Johnson and Sarah LeCheminant Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his first wife, Florence Ciela Hill; brothers Robert Le Johnson and William Le Johnson.

He married Kathryne Hard Hart on Jan. 31, 1976. He is survived by his wife, Kathryne; by his sister, Jeanne Greeenhalgh; by daughters, Erin Petrizzo, (Dante), Ginger Hunsaker (Michael), Janette Rallison (Guy); and by sons, Gibbs Johnson (Laurence), Stephen Hart (Dawn), and Brandon Hart (Trenna).

He attended Garfield Junior High and Cyprus High School. He obtained B.S. and M.S. degrees in Psychology at the University of Utah. He earned his PhD. degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Wisconsin and did a year of post- doctoral study at the Harvard Business School. He received a commission in US Navy serving both on active duty and in the Navy Reserve. He retired from the Navy in 1979 as a LtCmdr.

After completing his education, he taught at Washington State University for 21 years as a professor of Business Administration. In 1983 he began a second career in business working as personnel director for Kamex Construction Co. in Louisville, KY. He served as President of CBOL Corporation in Woodland Hills, CA, and as CFO of Pioneer Aluminum in Vernon, CA.

He retired in 1997 but continued to serve on the BOD for CBOL Corp. and as secretary for the Pacific Century Institute, a non-profit charity until his death.

He was active in the LDS Church serving in many capacities from Scout Master, Bishop and High Councilman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in the Monument Park 2nd Ward, (1005 South 2000 East). A viewing will be held from 10:30-11:45 AM prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
