Michael John Green

1954 ~ 2014

First born son of Mary Jean (Norris), Michael John Green arrived in the world on July 15, 1954. He was one of 4 boys, who grew-up in Salt Lake City, Utah and attended Olympus High School. Mike joined the Army in 1972, and came home to marry the love of his life, Roxana (Roberts).

Married on December 29, 1973, the adoring couple just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Always showing affection and always in love, their marriage is truly one to behold!

Mike and Roxana gave birth to their first child, Christina (married to Damian Goodman), in January of 1976 and their son, Michael Jr. (married to Shannon Bushnell) in August of 1978. Mike could not have been more excited than the day Mikey and Shannon gave birth to his first and only granddaughter, Veronica Jade. A few years later, Jaydon Michael arrived as the first grandson, soon to be followed by Jaycob Noah. These 3 children became his whole world. Three years ago, Mike was there to help Christina and Damian welcome their identical twin boys to the world, Jaymin James and Brayden Michael. These 5 children loved him so much, and could not have asked for a better grandpa!

Always there for his kids and later on his grandkids, Mike was very involved with Little League Baseball, Football and Basketball. He coached Mikey's teams as a kid, and was an active board member of Hunter Little League Football. Never missing a game, or even a practice, Mike was always there to cheer on the kids in their sports, and always there to support Christy in her dance. A very supportive father and grandfather, Mike was dedicated to his family and continued to attend the events of his grandkids until his last days.

Mike embraced his entrepreneurial spirit, and ran his own business for 30+ years. Mike's Home Improvement was a successful company that provided amazing craftsmanship and honest prices. He later became a realtor, who used his talents to remodel the ugliest of houses into beautiful homes. He was one of the hardest working men we've ever known- whether he was working on a home, remodeling a car, or building a race car, he was always using his skills to create something special.

Mike loved the outdoors, and spent much of his free time camping, hunting and traveling. He enjoyed traveling with his kids, and took them on many adventures. As he grew older, he began to travel with his grandkids, and took them on adventures from San Diego to Oregon and everywhere in between.

In 2000 Mike discovered his love for drag racing! He has always loved cars, and soon began building his own race cars that he would take to Rocky Mountain Raceway and run the º mile. It was a great sport that soon involved the entire family and would take him from Vegas to Boise as he constantly rebuilt his cars to get faster and better at the hobby he loved.

In September of 2013, Mike was diagnosed with Lung Cancer, and while he pursued aggressive treatment with the great doctors and nurses at The Huntsman Cancer Center, he lost his battle on February 6, 2014. While he lived a very full life, always putting others first and his family before himself, he left the world too soon as he had much more still to give. His retirement plans included traveling the country with his beautiful wife by his side, volunteering at all of the National Parks, and building homes for Habitat for Humanity in every state he could. He was always beyond generous, and using his skills and talents for the good of others. He will be terribly missed by his loving family, and his adoring wife. Whether you remember him for his laugh, the way he would answer the phone, or the way he sagged his pants, please remember him, and help keep his spirit alive!

An open house to celebrate Mike's life will be held Saturday, Feb. 15 from 3-6 pm at 4330 Cave Bay Circle, SLC. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal- Love leaves memories no one can steal."
