Together Again
On June 27, 2016, Lexie M. Updyke Bumgarner Spencer passed away at home after a variety of illnesses plagued her body in the last few years.
She was born July 10, 1936 in Salt Lake, Utah to Daniel Franklin Updyke Sr. and Lexie M. Lott Updyke Dilley.
She married Robert H. "Bummie" Bumgarner Jr. (later divorced) and had four kids. Married Gloyd LaRue "Spence" Spencer (later sealed in Temple) and had one kid. She also has two step kids.
She loved going on rides to mountains looking for wildlife, boating, fishing and camping. She LOVED Christmas decorations. When younger, she loved to dance including tap, toe and ballet and played bonnet ball. Always busy doing something.
She is survived by kids: Steve A. (Lynn-deceased) Bumgarner and Tawnya L. Spencer (Andy) Garcia. Step kids: John (Michelle) Spencer, Annette (Tharol "TJ"-deceased) Jensen. She has about 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: Parents, step father (Joseph N. Dilley), both husbands, sons (Robbie B. and Keven R. Bumgarner), daughter (Tamara "Tammy" Bumgarner-Hook), and granddaughter (Tina Bumgarner).
Family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the following Doctors/Medical staff for helping her thrive as long as she did: Gregory Stevens, Rory Carrera, Nicholas Johnson, Anna Marie Edwards, UofU Infusion Clinic (including Diane and Sandy), Shaylee (from Legacy Village Rehab), Envision Hospice (including Natalie and Christina). Other doctors, nurses, and aides too numerous to mention will always be remembered as well.
She was a person as unique as her name. Even the doctors told her so. She fought her way into life and continued through her passing. She found ways to help others without wanting praise or recognition. She hopes others will continue to "Pass It On".
Services are at Larkin Sunset Garden Mortuary 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy Utah 84092. Viewing Monday July 4, 2016 from 6-8 pm. Another viewing Tuesday July 5 from 9:30 ‚ 11:00 am. Funeral starts 11:00 am. Burial at American Fork Cemetery.
