Irene Elizabeth Told Grant

1920 ~ 2015

Irene Elizabeth Told Grant, our dear mother and grandmother passed away on July 26, 2015 in Murray, Utah. Irene was born to McKinley Jesse and Lois Alberta Smith Told in Magna, Utah. She was the oldest of two girls. Irene grew up in the Salt Lake area and married William Hugh Grant. They had one beloved daughter, Joan and resided in Midvale. Irene worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company for 28 years. She loved her job and coworkers and enjoyed huge successes within the company. She enjoyed community service and volunteered with many organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary, Midvale Fire Ladies Auxiliary and the Ladies Community Club. She was an active member of the Mountain America Credit Union Board of Directors for over 50 years. Irene was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed a busy life and always had time for family and friends. She loved gardening and was known for her impeccable yard. She also enjoyed traveling and was able to visit many places around the globe. Irene will be remembered for her English Toffee she made at Christmas time.

Irene will be missed by her daughter Joan Swain, three grandchildren Doug (JP) Swain, Shauna (Mike) Davis and Lori (Scott) Pexton, eight great-grandchildren Amy (Dustin) Ridge, Madison (Jason) Haslam, Jonathan Littlefield, Steffi (Danny) Knighton, Ashton (Clay) Harman, Jordan Pexton, Sister Chelsea Pexton who is currently serving a mission for the LDS Church in Morristown, New Jersey and Jackson Swain, five great great-grandchildren Bailey Ridge, Emerson Haslam, Blakeney Knighton, Jensen Haslam and Davis Ridge. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, younger sister Elaine Told Marino and great grandson Michael McEwan Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the services. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
