E. Elizabeth Beacom Luerssen

1950 ~ 2019

E. Elizabeth Beacom Luerssen, known as "Beth" is a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend who passed away Monday Sept 23, 2019, just shy of her 69th year in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born November 16, 1950 in Manhattan, NY to parents Ethel Swift Burns and Benjamin Charles Beacom, and siblings Gail and Guy. Beth spent her youth in Bayside Queens and Westbury, NY. She joined the Navy in the mid 70's as a communication specialist later being honorably discharged with a National Defense Service medal.

Beth converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints wherein she gained a wealth of life experience from attending Brigham Young University, meeting and marrying her devoted husband Robert Charles Luerssen of 37 years at the Washington D.C temple and having three children she lovingly called her "G.E.M. collection\" (Guy, Emily, Matthew).

Robert, known as Charlie to those closest to him, was by Beth's side as she took her last breath at home on Capitol Hill. Under hospice care she passed after a life of many trials and tribulations in matters of physical health ups and downs that came after her first stroke at 49 years. Charlie has been a true husband to Beth through all the falls and breaks and the onset of memory loss.

Beth is survived by her husband Charlie, daughter Emily, sons Guy and Matthew, stepsons Rob, Mike & Dave, 6 grandchildren, her sister Gail Schroeder and many supportive extended family and friends.

She had a love of creating, from crocheting to tatting, leatherworking to wreathing, singing in the choir to teaching sign language to children. A den mother and girl scout leader when her children were young, she worked taking care of others in her youth and being taken care of later in life.

She loved to go out to eat, shop for costume jewelry and have her hair braided. Most will never forget her iconic hats that she wore.

Beth loved to accompany her husband to church services and the temple in the Salt Lake Stake district. She has a deep love for her Savior Jesus Christ and is now with him. Those who know her, know they will never know another like her. A one of a kind, wild blue-eyed daughter of God.

Her funeral service will be held Friday September 27, 2019 at 11:00 am. Viewing with family & friends in the Relief Society room from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at the Capitol Hill Ward, 413 North West Capitol Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
