Sharon Ruth Jensen

1936 ~ 2018

Sharon Ruth Jensen, mother of seven, piano teacher, and a friend to many, died peacefully of natural causes on April 1, 2018. Sharon was born November 28, 1936 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. Sharon was proud of many accomplishments in her life, especially her seven children and eleven grandchildren. She was an amazing pianist with a love of music and animals. Sharon was among the first students to attend Olympus High School in Holladay, UT, and was proud to have helped select the school colors and helped write the original school song.

Sharon relished her memories in Cache Valley, spending many summers with her Grandma Ruby and Grandma Clawson. In 1955, Sharon married John Chatelain and they primarily resided in Taylorsville, UT. In 1974, Sharon married Tom Hollberg and they primarily resided in the Bonneville Stake in Salt Lake City, UT. In 1992, Sharon married Cal Christensen and they resided in Emigration Canyon until Cal's passing in 1999. For most of her life, she worked extremely hard as a successful piano teacher. Sharon was proud of her many piano students and enjoyed seeing their performances during recitals and competitions. She also sold real estate and volunteered at Cottonwood Hospital.

Known as Grandma Shaza to her grandchildren, Sharon was always excited to give a hug to each one of them whenever she had the chance. She loved her family and always attended important events to show her love.

Sharon is survived by her seven children, Mike Chatelain (Lisa), Dave Chatelain, Steve Chatelain (Robin), Jeff Chatelain (Jen), Jenny Gillespie (Robert), Jim Chatelain (Heather), TK Hollberg (Echo), brother Jay Jensen, sister-in-law Pam Jensen, along with eleven grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Cal Christensen, parents Don and Muriel Jensen, and her brother Steve Jensen.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 4 from 6pm to 8pm and on Thursday, April 5 from 9:30am to 10:30am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E South Temple, SLC, UT. Interment at the Hyrum City Cemetery.
