Robert Ellis Brown

1943 ~ 2015

Bob Brown, 72, passed away on March 27, 2015.

Bob was born January 6, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Robert Ellis Brown and Carma Tessie Larsen Brown.

Remembering Bob and his life, one reflects on the moments that shaped who he was to become the man loved by so many. There was always a common theme when it came to Bob, \"how can you do so many things so well?\"

Bob graduated from Jordan High School in 1961. As a youth Bob was a very good athlete. He played football and wrestled. He performed well on the athletic field and earned several awards. He was Vice President of the lettermen\s club in 1961 and co-captain of the wrestling team. His senior year he was crowned State Champion in his weight class. Because Bob performed so well in the wrestling arena he earned a wrestling scholarship to the University of Utah.

While at Jordan High School, Bob saw a girl on the school bus and proclaimed to his friends \"I am going to marry that girl\". That girl was Diane Jenson and little did she know she didn\t stand a chance. When it came to matters of the heart that Bob was a master. On September 13, 1962 they were married. To find love so early and nurture it for so long is a testament to how well Bob cared for his beloved Diane.

Bob loved to teach others the value of doing things well. It was this drive and passion that led Bob to coach little league football for 13 years at East and Judge Memorial. He made sure he instilled in these boys the value of hard work, doing your best, and most importantly performing well. Winning wasn\t everything to Bob, although his teams won more than their fair share of games. It was important to him that the boys enjoyed the game and they all knew that Bob loved and cared for those boys as if they were his own.

Bob loved golf, another sport he played so very well. On July 12, 1987 at Davis Park Golf Course Bob hit a shot so well that it was a hole in one.

Loyalty and hard work were just some of the things that personified Bob. On March 5, 1998 he retired from the Newspaper Agency after 25 years in the advertising industry.

Bob knew something about everything. It was amazing how well he could fix anything. Over the course of his life, he rebuilt three Corvettes and a British MG sports car. Yes, he did this exceptionally well, although there was a Corvette that gave him more trouble than he planned on. When you turned left, the horn would sound. It was the charm and character of the flaw that made the car Bob\s and you uniquely fell in love with what he did.

Bob\s crowning achievement was his family. He loved family and was always happiest when surrounded by them around a kitchen table or campfire. It didn\t matter if you were old, young or new to the family, Bob was the one who made you feel welcome and loved. He was always pulling you into the middle of a good debate, willing to take the opposite side of the argument just to get everyone thinking. This talent was what drew everyone to Bob. He did it so well...

The most telling part about how well Bob lived his life was how he died. Knowing the pain and suffering he was in, you never heard him complain. Up until his last days when you asked him how he was he\d say \"never been better, how are you?\" Now after he has passed, we know that the ultimate lesson Bob taught was how to live and die graciously. Thank you for the lesson that will be passed on for generations.

Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years Diane, daughter Kimberly (Spencer) Beckstead, Granddaughter Brooke Redmon, who was like a daughter to Bob (fiance Jeff Miller), Grandsons Drew Dickerson, and Gray Beckstead and his mini Aussie and love of his life Lucky. Brothers Brent (Suzy) Brown, Greg (Susan) Brown, Jeff (Traci) Brown, Fred Dickerson, great friend Rick Huff and many loving nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Brown, mother, Carma Brown and brother, Kent Brown.

According to Bob\s wishes, he will be cremated and a private memorial held with family on Conant creek in Ashton, Idaho, where family camping trips meant so much to Bob.

A Celebration of Bob\s life will be held Saturday April 4, 2015 from 2pm-4pm at 1452 East Bella Vie CT Salt Lake City, UT 84121. Come enjoy stories, memories, and most of all a good debate.
