Cleo Faye Stringham

1923 ~ 2016

Cleo Faye Stringham, our sweet mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on October 22, 2016 with loving family and friends by her side.

Cleo was born September 1, 1923 to Samuel Nelson and Erma Faye Jones in Milburn, Utah. Cleo was born on her father's birthday and was the oldest of eleven children. She was raised in Salt Lake City and a graduate of West High School. On March 8, 1941 Cleo married Robert George Stringham, who was the love of her life. They were the best of friends and shared a great love for one another. Together, they raised three daughters: Barbara, Janet and Suzanne. Their children and grandchildren were their greatest joy.

She was hardworking, and held many jobs throughout her lifetime, including an elevator operator at Hotel Utah, teller at American Savings and eventually Director of the Americlub, a job she dearly loved. Cleo lived through the Great Depression and learned how to be frugal, resourceful, and grateful for even the smallest things.

Cleo loved to travel, read, sing, dance, and eat sweets, but life for Cleo was most special when spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband Robert, her father Samuel, mother Erma, sister Dorothy, her daughter Barbara and countless cousins and friends. She is survived by her daughters Jan Arego-Jordan (Michael), Suzanne Anderson (Martin), her grandchildren Natalie Pons, John Murdock (Shelly), Angela Campbell (Brad), Nicholas Wilkinson, Tristan Whyte, Michael Arego, John Arego, McKenzie Rees (Garrett), Allie Boyle (Samuel), Sarah Nordgran (Casey), and thirteen great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.

A family gathering will be held on November 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, SLC Utah. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon for friends and family will follow at Cottonwood Place, 5600 South Highland Drive. Cleo's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Cottonwood Place and Brighton Home Health and Hospice for the loving care given to Cleo and her family.
