Lloyd Howard Bethers

1952 ~ 2019

Lloyd was the oldest of three children born to Howard M. Bethers and Donna Margaret Cracroft. As an only child, he loved traveling with mom and dad to many places. One of those trips was to New York where they enjoyed visiting many of the Church history sites and the 1964 World Fair. All that changed; however, when as a sophomore in high school his life was "blessed" with a younger sister and then a younger brother three years later. Although we are sure this was a shock, Lloyd was a good son and a wonderful big brother. He would often help out by babysitting his little sister. This would include peek-a-boo, story time, and of course, much tickling. He would also take her for rides in his car. Oh! How he loved his cars… from his Fiat, to his Vega, and then the Chrysler LeBaron, he always cared for his cars, especially the red ones. It was a special treat to be invited to go for a ride. Lloyd was very good at spoiling his younger siblings for birthdays and Christmas. His presents were always the best. He was also the biggest tease ever known.

Lloyd had lots of fun growing up in the Poplar Grove area of Salt Lake City. He enjoyed Many scouting and Father's and Sons events. He began piano lessons at a young age. At age 12, he was quite an accomplished pianist and was asked to play for priesthood meetings. He was encouraged by a family friend to learn how to play the organ, which he quickly learned and soon became the ward organist. He enjoyed music. Along with playing the piano and organ, he also sang in the choir at West High. His musical talents blessed many lives over the years.

Lloyd was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was always happy to serve in whatever calling he received. He served a 2-year mission in Sao Paulo, Brazil and then went on to serve in various other capacities over the years, including; Chorister, High Priest leader, and as a wonderful home teacher.

Lloyd was a hard worker and a good student. He had the mind of a steel trap! After returning home from Brazil, he went to school and received top grades eventually becoming a master electrician. Lloyd worked as an electrician for the Jordan School District. He retired after 32 years of dedicated service.

Lloyd married Karen on April 14, 1989 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had one son, Quentin. Lloyd enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved going on family reunions at Bear Lake, visiting with extended family on holidays, or just spending time together. He would often attend Boy Scout camps with his son. Together, he and Karen helped Quentin receive his Eagle Scout Award.

Lloyd liked to serve wherever possible. He would help people move, re-roof their houses, clean the chapel and the temple, and sing in the choir. Most recently he served diligently in the Draper Temple Baptistery and also at the LDS Church's Dairy farm. He loved the work at the Dairy and had plans to extending his mission there.

Most important, Lloyd had a testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ and always did his best to follow Him. He had a good heart and wanted to do what was right and serve others. Those who knew him will always remember the good he did and keep his memory in their hearts.
