Ron Max Phelps

1956 ~ 2019

Ron Max Phelps passed away of natural causes in his home on Friday November 8, 2019. Ron was born on July 24, 1956 in Murray, Utah. His parents were Max Clyde Phelps and Dorthy Laursen Phelps. Ron spent his childhood in Riverton running through the fields and riding horses any and everywhere. He was always active and playful and never left a rock unturned. Ron had many talents and always left you smiling and feeling like you just made a friend. His smile was infectious and always had a joke or something funny to say.

Ron loved his family and enjoyed getting together with them on holidays and special occasions. He adored his son Buzz and sister Sandra and would always do his best to make sure they were doing well. He would help anyone that needed a hand or had a question. Ron had a way with words that made everyone feel at ease and comfortable.

Ron worked for the University of Utah for over 20 years in the maintenance department and made many friends throughout the years. During this time, he met and married the love of his life, Jodi Jensen. After leaving the University, he started to work for the State of Utah and remained there until his passing. He was always leaving an impression with those that met him.

Ron enjoyed staying active and busy and would rarely slow down to rest. In his younger years, he loved to hunt and camp with his dad. While raising Buzz, he coached little league, went on many 4-wheeler adventures and always kept activities going. Ron was very active in raising his son and kept family a priority. Later on, Ron and Jodi enjoyed hiking and traveling as much as possible. They were able to visit Hawaii, Belize and Mexico. They also enjoyed hiking as much of Utah as possible.

Ron is survived by his wife, Jodi Phelps, son Buzz (Kylie) Phelps, two granddaughters Boston and Bradley Phelps, as well as his sister Sandra (Gary) Anderson. He is preceded in death by his parents Max and Dorthy Phelps.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Larkin Mortuary Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, UT. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and Thursday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 am prior to the services.
