On October 11, 2017 Eldon DeLoy Howell, a warrior, who selflessly served his family every day of his life, marched valiantly into heaven. He has not left us alone for we know he will always be there to support us in our struggles and smile at our successes. His purpose in life was to provide for his family and to serve his Heavenly Father. He excelled at both. DeLoy's legacy of industry and hard work started when he was a young boy. He delivered newspapers, worked at a service station and the Tooele smelter, x-rayed rocket engines at Hercules, and excelled at selling welding equipment as a welding technician. He paid for his own mission and provided a happy and abundant life for his family. A gentleman to the core, DeLoy descended into the mines in Wyoming and conducted welding demonstrations in a suit and tie and his gleaming Florsheims. He also taught welding in high schools. He was a highly skilled and honest salesman and his customers trusted and respected him and became his friends. DeLoy tirelessly served the Lord throughout his life, starting as a young missionary in Australia, through multiple callings in his ward and stake, as a diligent home teacher, and with his wife as missionary couple at the Joseph Smith Building. DeLoy never tired or complained while "putting his shoulder to the wheel" despite suffering severe chronic back pain. DeLoy was an expert at building model airplanes, which we now cherish in our homes as reminders of his love. His Eternal family are: wife, Darlene Tippets of 62 years, who loved him deeply and will miss him by her side; four outstanding sons: Brian (Jeanne Roblez and children Benjamin and Tess); Mark (Kaori Inamata, (deceased) and children Marcus and Andrew); Dean (children Heili and Bryton); Darrin (MaryJoy Ballantyne and children Sarah and Eve); and much-loved only daughter, Shelley Saxton (David Saxton and children Jorden, Chase (deceased), and Breeanne). Yes, he will be missed beyond words but we believe he will be close by. It is our task now to march forward, just as he, serving others and not disappointing him.

Services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rose Park 1st Ward, 760 N. 1200 W. Friends and family may call from 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment at Farmington City Cemetery.
