Maxine E. Falkenrath

1927 ~ 2016

Maxine Falkenrath, 89, Holladay, Utah, passed away on Flag Day June 14th at Care Source Hospice of causes due to age. One of 8 children, she was born at home in Tooele, UT to parents John Elmer and Evelyn England.

As an attractive young woman, she was named as a Tooele High School beauty queen She married Eugene S. Falkenrath on June 4th 1948. They just recently were able to be together for their 68th anniversary. Maxine and Gene enjoyed dancing, especially to the 1940's dance music of Glenn Miller and the other Big Bands.

Maxine played a starring role in supporting her husband and sons' business ventures. As a corporate officer of No. 1 International, Inc. for more than three decades, she served the family owned business well. For decades, she attended automotive component trade shows in the USA, Europe, and Australia. Maxine was recognized as one of the first ladies of the automotive aftermarket distribution industry. Completing her studies with the National Association of Credit Management, NYC in May 1981, she never stopped learning and giving back. Maxine and Eugene established an Entrepreneur Scholarship at Westminster College in 2013. Giving useful, practical gifts to others brought great joy to her life and was her trademark.

She loved flowers and was a past member of the Floribunda Garden Society. Her entries in flower shows won many ribbons.

Maxine also took great pride in her 64 Ω Ford Mustang. She showed it at many car shows and won awards for its appearance. Her Mustang is blue, her favorite color!

Maxine is survived by her husband of 68 years Gene, sons Ray (Vicki), Rex (Amy Paul), Jack (Jeanette) and Craig (Amy) and 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings; Mary Wollam, Betty Tonelli, Helen Whitlock, Alice Harvey, Marjorie Garrard, and Leo England.

Proceeded in death by her parents, John Elmer and Evelyn England, and Sister, Bonnie Hunter. Also brother in laws, Monty Wollam, Lloyd Tonelli, Warren Whitlock, George Hunter, Ronald Harvey, Duane Garrard, and sister in law, Donna England.

Funeral services will be held on Monday June 20, 2016 at 11 AM at Larkin Mortuary 260 E. South Temple, SLC. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Interment: Murray City Cemetery. Condolences may be made at www.LarkinMortuary.com
