Shirley Bagley Cope

1923 ~ 2014

Shirley Bagley Cope died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family July 29, 2014. Shirley was born October 1, 1923, in Springville, Utah, to Joseph Daniel Bagley and Emma Spafford. She married Alan Ludlow Cope May 21, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Shirley was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked for Salt Lake City and County for thirty years. Shirley was very adventurous, loved to danced and tried to find joy in all she did. Shirley and Alan loved to travel and have been to many exotic places. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, son Greg Miller, two daughters, Melody (John) Tuft and Brooke (Ron) Ollis, ten grandchildren: Bryan (Michelle) Ackerman, Brett (Tara) Ackerman, Kristi (Wade) Fautin, Kami (Troy) Madsen, Kaprece (Shannon) Staples, Kassi (Josh) Bybee, Jennie (Mike) Brown, Jason (Camille) Ollis, Dustin (April) Ollis, Dirk Ollis, and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Josephine Bagley and Jane Jensen, and brother Daniel Bagley.

A viewing will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, SLC, Utah, Sunday, August 3, 2014, from 6:00-8:00 pm. There will be another viewing at 10:00 am Monday with the funeral following at 11:00 am, also held at Larkin Mortuary. The Cope family would especially like to thank Hearts for Hospice and Home Health and MedStar Home Medical, the nurses, volunteers and many others for their kind, considerate and loving care of Shirley during her illness.
