Carol Jean Eskelson

1934 ~ 2019

Just as she prayed for, on the morning of October 1st, 2019, Carol Jean (Mower) Eskelson's son, Dale, came while she rested peacefully in her sleep to take her home to her Lord. Carol was born on December 18th, 1934 in Murray, Utah to Francis May (Meads) Mower and John Herbert Mower. She grew up in Murray, Utah and graduated from Granite High School in 1952. Carol was the proud mother of five children from her first marriage, and in 1975, she married Dorain Staley Eskelson in Bountiful, Utah. They spent the rest of their lives in the same Bountiful home that would become a place of nostalgia for everyone around her.

Carol devoted her life to raising her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, countless others whom she nannied for, and her beloved Maltese dogs. She was the kind of mother who her children considered their best friend and knew that she would always be there to back you up even if you were being a "dumb kid." She was always there in her kitchen waiting for your phone call, to make you a slice of toast, to talk to while she worked on her crossword puzzle. Anyone who knew Carol, knew she had the most beautiful grandchildren in the world. Her love and nurturing nature for the family she created knew no boundaries. Whether it was adventures to the local Kmart for an Icee, making her famous noodles and mashed potatoes, taking a road trip with a car full of children while listening to Neil Diamond, Carol's love for her family was unconditional to say the least.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betty Plotts, her brother Bud Mower, her husband Dorain Eskelson, and her son Dale Riggs. She survived by her children Dean Riggs, Randy Riggs, Ricky Riggs, and Lanni Ratliff. Her nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

Services will be held at 1100 am on Friday, October 4, 2019, at the Bountiful 39th ward Chapel located at 1500 S. 600 E. Bountiful Utah.
