Our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather unexpectedly passed away on October 13, 2013. Al was born in Mayfield Heights, Ohio on October 24, 1949. He joined the U.S. Navy in May of 1969 and ended his military career as an AO3 in June of 1973. Al then married his sweetheart, Marcia G. Turner, on June 21, 1974.
Al and Marci were blessed with two amazing sons, the "greatest accomplishments" of his life. He worked as an auto-body repairman for many years before earning his appraisal license in 1991. Al ran a successful business in Aurora, Ohio until 1996 when the family decided to move to Utah and run the business here. In 2001 Al survived a massive stroke that caused the closure of the family business but his loving wife, strength of will, and persistent doctors kept him moving forward. To the joy of his family he was baptized into the LDS church in 2002 and attended the Sunset 5th ward. We're grateful for the gospel knowledge of eternal families and love him so much. We will miss him deeply but look forward to seeing him again!
Al was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Markow, and father, Robert Harold Oltmanns. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marcia, of Sunset, Utah; his children, Robert (Erin) Oltmanns of Woods Cross, UT and Jason (Wendy) Oltmanns of Syracuse, UT; his step-mother, Kathy Oltmanns of Bainbridge, OH; his brother, Walter Oltmanns of Reminderville, OH; his sister, Linda Oltmanns of Twinsburg, OH; and five grandchildren ‚ Baylie, Devon, Conner, Bryce, and Joseph.
Viewing will be held from 12-1:45 Friday, October 18th, 2013 followed by the funeral services at 2:00, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City. Condolences may be left at www.larkincares.com
