Mary Wesche Dillon

1919 ~ 2017

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, aunt and friend, 97 was reunited with her eternal companion on July 28, 2017. Born October 6, 1919 to Frederick A.H.G and Freida Heuman Wesche in the basement of the 1st and 2nd ward Church House in Salt Lake City. She married George Harvey Dillon on July 5, 1940. Their marriage was later solemnized in the SLC Temple, on October 11, 1974. He preceded her in death.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Rose Park. She attended Onequa Elementary, Jackson Jr High, and was a very proud West High Alumni. She worked at Inland Freight in California and Ringsby Trucking in Salt Lake City which led to her being a member of the Utah Women's Motor Transport Group. But Mary's true calling was finding joy in serving others. She served in numerous church callings, including relief society, scouting, and the special needs mutual. She served in the Salt Lake temple until 2013. She was an accomplished seamstress. She spent countless hours sewing wedding gowns, dance costumes, prom dresses, baby towels, and even a luge suit. She loved to cook and bake, and spent numerous days in November and December preparing Christmas candy for friends and family to enjoy. She thoroughly enjoyed the friendships she shared with her club ladies. As the years went on, she never slowed down when it came to supporting her family. She never missed a sporting event, a dance recital, a graduation, celebratory party, baby blessing, or baptism. Her family was her greatest accomplishment. WE LOVE YOU GRANDMA!

She is survived by her children: Jim Dillon, Christine(Ron) Kuehne, Kenny(Mary) Dillon, Ed(Sharon) Dillon, and Kathryn(Doug) Johnson. 13 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
