Judy Sirstins

1938 ~ 2017

Judy was born on April 29, 1938 in Salt Lake City Utah to Joseph Milan Hansen and Kathryn Beetles Hansen. She was preceded in death by her sister JoAnne.

Shegraduated from South High School in 1956 and later married the love of her life John Sirstins on December 4, 1959. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 20, 1981. Their love continued to grow and remained strong for 57 years. They had three children Tamie, Misty, and John. But Judy always wanted a large family so she could be surrounded by children. So they later added two more members to their family and adopted Cherie and Robert. Judy's desire for a large family extended beyond her immediate family. She ran a successful daycare for 40+ years and was often referred to as "Grandma JuJu." She loved each child dearly.

She was a warm weathered person.Judy was known for her love of flowers and gardening. Growing up, Judy spent many summers at Hebgen Lake which soon became a yearly vacation for her own family and friends. Many more summers were spent in Carlsbad California with her family on the warm beach. Family was everything to her. Grandma Judy was always supporting the grandkids and never missed an opportunity to attend their events. Holidays were always spent making her famous sugar cookies with her grandkids. Judy was also an active member of the LDS church, accepted many callings, and was always willing to help those in need.

Ed Sheeran said it best, "A heart that\s broke is a heart that\s been loved." Judy left this world the most devoted wife, endearing mother, loving grandmother, sincere friend, compassionate childcare provider, supportive cheerleader, good cook, attentive listener, loyal tear wiper, best advice giver, bargain shopper, believer in honesty is the best policy, hard worker, and a proud believer and coach for each of her children. She set a great example for her family of strength and diligence. She would always say "can't" was not a word in the English dictionary. Her light made a rainy day feel like a sunny day.Sundaynight dinners with her family were filled with lots of noise and laughter. Her family wasn't just her immediate family. She made every person feel like they were more important than anything in the world.

Before she died she wanted her husband to know how proud she was of him and how lucky she was to have him by her side as her dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and knight in shining armor. Although she will be dearly missed, we know she is reunited with her loved ones and find comfort in knowing that this is not the end. We know that we will see her again and that we gained an angel in heaven.
