Marilyn Wood Taggart Davis

1925 ~ 2017

Every once in a while the world is blessed with a soul so bright and beautiful that it is never quite the same. Our sweet, noble mother was one of those people who left a trail of love, kindness, grace, class and goodness.

Born July 29th, 1925 to Ray and Mollie Wood. She paved the way for her younger siblings Fran and Ray. She grew up on Capitol Hill and attended West High where she excelled in a variety of activities winning many awards including those for her oratory skills. She attended the University of Utah and was elected Historian of Associated Students, was chosen to be in the Beehive Honor Society, graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, whose lasting friendships she enjoyed the rest of her life. Mom's education included an internship at Boston Mass General Hospital.

Marilyn married Scott A. Taggart and had five children; Robyn Rock (Gerry), Paul (Jane), Lane (Cathleen), Shannon Tolman (Jeff), Mary Lee Warner (Wid). We were her world.

Marilyn had the foresight to return to school and earn her Masters degree in Nutrition, which enabled her to later support herself and her five children, with unwavering courage. She later married Dr. Mel Davis, a match made in heaven. Mom instantly loved his six children and they love her. Her fiery faith was evident in her service in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including the Primary General Board.

We hope you were one of the lucky ones who got to taste mom's fabulous cooking. Oh…her pies! She also taught us to see the joy and beauty in all of nature.

This intelligent, capable and spiritual woman shaped our lives and single handedly built a strong and lasting legacy. Her 23 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren adored their Nana and will always love her and each other.

Thank you mom for your testimony you expressed to us everyday of our Savior Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. Thank you for loving each of us with all your heart. We love you dearly.
