Douglas Chris Vaseleou

1956 ~ 2017

Douglas Chris Vaseleou returned to the love of his life, Sally on June 22, 2017 in Sandy, UT after battling a genetic liver disease. Doug was always optimistic about his condition and remained in good spirits.

He was born December 1, 1956 in Salt Lake City to Chris Angelo and Nellie Louise Simmons Vaseleou. He married Sally Christine Nay on August 12, 1977 in Salt Lake City.

Doug retired from the United States Postal Service after 28 years, the majority of which he was the Supervisor at the Draper Post Office. There he was beloved by all his coworkers and made an everlasting impression. In his teen years he worked at Beehive Clothing Mills and later on at Sperry Univac.

Doug had a gentle soul. His warm presence was undeniable and drew people to him. Over the years, Doug enjoyed fishing and he had a passion for cars. This was evident in that he still had his high school car, a orange 1973 Camaro. He also enjoyed collecting 1970s tote gotes, mini bikes, and motorcycles. Later in life he found an interest in Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Doug's biggest hobby and accomplishment was his family. He enjoyed spending every free moment with them. He often dropped by his childrens' places of work to visit them and made numerous friends along the way. Some of our fondest memories of Doug were vacations we took, his sense of humor and his ability to find a good deal on everyday purchases, and an even better deal on the cars he bought. Doug cherished time spent with his dad Chris and his granddaughters, Maddy and Emma. Dad, we are glad that you have been reunited with mom again and you both will forever be our role models and inspiration.

Doug is survived by his father, Chris; son, Trevor (Jenn); daughter, Cassie (Andrew); brother, Mike (Angie); brother-in-law, Max (Cynthia) Nay; sister-in-law, Cathy (Bill) Kreutzberg; granddaughters, Maddy and Emma; and Chloe and Rosi, the grand-dogs. Preceded in death by his wife, Sally; mother Louise; father-and-mother-in-law, Joseph and Betty Nay; nephew, Cody; and his grandfather, Angelo.

A special thanks to Sunrise of Sandy Assisted Living and all the other healthcare workers at various facilities who assisted in Doug's care.
